Location: Cambridgeshire
Client Brief: To create modern take on a traditional working family farmhouse, allowing two sets of family to enjoy the home yet maintain their own privacy. Additionally it had to be high quality, low maintenance, with high energy efficiency, yet take the opportunities modern architecture, design and materials offer in creating an exceptional living space.
Project Scope: The 657m2 bespoke family farmhouse was constructed with a highly thermally efficient timber frame structural system by Beattie Passive and is zero carbon negative. Using Passivhaus principles for heating and ventilation and Beattie Passive’s patented continuous insulation system, the architect designed the farmhouse to provide outstanding environmental benefits as well as a stunning building to complement its rural surroundings.
Client's Verdict: “The Beattie Passive Build System has transformed our ‘grand design’ vision to a living, breathing reality. Nestled within the family farm, our home will blend seamlessly into the rolling landscape and will be extremely cost efficient for years to come.”
"It was time for the owners to embark on a labour of love to design and build a traditional farmhouse to blend in with its surroundings, with a high spec finish and gadgetry more akin to a James Bond hideaway."
